According to Apple Server Service website, Apple is currently experiencing problems with iTune and App stores which can effect both iOS devices (iPhone, iPads) and OSX devices (MacBooks, iMacs)

Apple status can be seen here and as of this posting it has been going on for over an hour and a half.
